Interesting fact

I was reading The Daily Yomiuri two days ago and stumbled on an interesting fact. Apparently one third of the canidates in the next election in Iraq must be women. And one quarter of the parliment seats must be occupied by women. Sounds good on the surface but will someone find a way to exploit it. It's kind of interesting considering in Canada and the US numbers are not that high. And we consider ourselves to be liberated and equal. Will it be hard for women to join the "old boys club" of politics in Iraq. Will they even be listened to. One quarter is quite a large number though.

2日前にディリーヨミウリを読んでいて面白いものを発見しました。イラクでは次の 選挙で形上は立候補者の三分の一は女性でなければいけないらしいですよ。また議席 の四分の一も女性でなければいけないそうです。 聞こえはいいのですが、これは誰かがうまく政治的に利用するための手段ではないのかな？　アメリカやカナダのほうが女性の割合がすくないのでがとはとても興味ぶかい話ですよね。そして私たちは私自身を自由で平等だとおもっております。　イラクで伝統的な男性政界に女の人が加わるのは大変なことなのですかね？彼女らは話をきいてもらえるのでしょうかね？　四分の一は非常に大きい数字ですね。
